Friday Show n Tell - September 12th

Visit Canadagirl (Mary) if you would like to join Friday Show n Tell or find links to the participants.

Hello! This is my new blog. Thank you for visiting me!

We found 3 black swallowtail caterpillars in the parsley when working in our garden the other weekend. I decided to keep them so I could see them make their chrysalis and turn into butterflies.

This is when the caterpillar gets into position to form its chrysalis.

And here is the chrysalis. It's green at first and then changes to brown. All three have now formed their chrysalis and we are counting down the days until the butterflies emerge.

This is so much fun! We have done this many times. It is so cool to release the butterflies once they emerge from the cacoon.

Hi!
What a cool new blog! I really liked the post on caterpillars. We have done this experiment before too.
Thanks for letting me know that you have a new blog. I haven't posted much on my blog lately.

I only have two songs on my ipod because the computer won't recognize my ipod and load songs.

You're kidding! You have REAL swallowtail catepillars at your place? You lucky duck! I wish we did. I hope you will show pictures when they emerge.

What a very nice new blog. You did a great job. How exciting to have three to watch. I hope they all emerge for you, what a great science project. Are you journaling about it, making a lapbook or drawing a nature book?
Keep us posted!

Thanks for sharing,

Hello, and welcome to blog-land! Thank you so much for sharing your caterpillars with us; I loved seeing the pictures! We live in Arizona now, where we don't run across many caterpillars, but we're from Michigan, where they were abundant. I sure do miss them!

Have a lovely week,
Mrs. Shani
